GO-PAY MISSIONS AS A BRIDGE FOR FINANCIAL INCLUSION
Go-Jek as a pioneer Fin-Tech industry that provides ride-hailing at first and it grows into an even bigger startup in Indonesia providing many product lines and services. One of the services is Go-Pay that firstly introduced in 2015. It was made just to be a payment service for Go-Jek’s products, but by the time it becomes a giant mobile payment in Indonesia to finish the transactions not only for Go-Jek’s product but also other products and services. Therefore, Go-Jek has spread its wings collaborating with many merchants. As it becomes a payment platform for almost all merchants that they are collaborating with, Go-Pay has been separated from the ecosystem of Go-Jek to ease transactions. The gross transaction value is over 9 billion that leads Go-Pay as the largest payment on demand. It has approximately 3000 offline merchants and 1500 online shops.
The presence of Go-Pay to the environment is carrying several missions with their main goal is to bridge for financial inclusion. Fundamentally, Go-Pay would provide the most advanced technology system with high standards to achieve their missions. The first mission is a platform to reach the unbanked. The unbanked people in Indonesia are almost half of the population that comes from rural areas. The main reason for Indonesian for not having a bank account is due to not having enough money to save in the bank and hence they probably might not even create a bank account. This mission is supported by taking this opportunity to provide easiness by building and innovating a platform with internet and mobile-based for citizens which are far from bank access.
The second mission is a strong collaboration with other financial services providers, banking, and regulators. By collaborating with banks, it penetrates the expansion and reaches out to many more people to access the banks. When people are wondering about the existence of Fin-Tech, namely Go-Pay, as a threat for banking institutions, Go-Pay affirms that they are not the competitor of the bank, instead of supporting the banking operations. They are willing to help in increasing financial inclusions to spread the financial services which reachable to the entire levels of people.
The third mission is to become an instrument of Micro-Small Medium Enterprise (MSME). Go-Pay provides solutions for its Go-Jek’s services that the MSME could be connected to hundreds of loyal customers directly. Furthermore, Go-Pay helps the MSME to graduate by teaching them in maintaining business and share some tips for the successes MSME. Therefore, Go-pay gives a high effort to give impact to MSME broadly.
